Ufone and HBL sign CNY/RMB Trade Finance Facility Agreement
Pak Telecom Mobile Limited – Ufone and HBL have signed a landmark agreement, through which HBL has extended a bilateral Trade Finance in Chinese Yuan (RMB/CNY) for the import of cellular network equipment through Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. The Landmark agreement is part of one of the largest RMB/CNY contracts in the history of Pakistan between Ufone and Huawei Technologies Co Ltd., and it would furthermore be a breakthrough in the banking industry of the country. The trade deal under this new mode of transaction will set a precedent for different sectors and corporations in both friendly countries—China and Pakistan—which plan to take their working relationship to the next level through this currency swap agreement. This transaction would also ease off the pressure of import bills in terms of dollars for Pakistan. Ufone Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Football Tournament: Matches conclude in six cities
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s youth continue todisplay their extraordinary football talent in the Ufone Football Tournament, organized within the KPK province. Match winners from 6 out of 21 cities have already been announced while the remaining matches continue as per schedule. The first match was played in Lakki Marwat’s Kabir Khan Park where Carvaan FC and Registan FC faced each other for the City’s title. Carvaan FC dominated the game and defeated Registan FC with a score of 3 – 0. Touqeer, Kazi Tahir and Nouman scored the goals for their team to clinch the City title. The tournament in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa builds over the success of three editions to Ufone’s Balochistan Football Tournament which evolved to become one of Balochistan’s major sporting event.
Ufone Brings Football Tournament for the youth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
After the successful completion of the Ufone Balochistan Football Tournament 2019, the Pakistani cellular company is all set to launch the first ever edition of Ufone Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tournament. The championship aims to provide 960 young footballers a platform to showcase their skills and display exceptional footballing talent. Young footballers from the province are all set to play against each other’s football clubs as the tournament kicks off today from Mansehra and Dera Ismail Khan. The qualifier stage tournament will feature 64 Football Clubs competing against each other from 21 cities. The Final of the championship will be played under flood lights at Tamas Khan Football Stadium Peshawar on 22nd November. Must Read: JazzCash Introduces In-App Bus Ticketing Feature The first leg of the tournament qualifiers will be played in the cities of Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Chitral, Lower and Upper Dir, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Sawabi, Mardan, Charssadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, D.I. Khan and Tank. The cities have been divided into four regions i.e. Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar and Kohat. The top two teams from each region will qualify for the Super 8 stage of the tournament. The Super 8 matcheswill be played on 18 and 19 November, with top 4 progressing into the semifinals which will take place on 20 November. The championship builds on the success of the Ufone Balochistan Football tournament, for which three editions have taken place from 2017 onwards. The latest edition was held in March 2019 where Afghan Chaman FC lifted the trophy as champions of the tournament. Pakistani telecom operator, Ufone, believes that there is immense talent amongst the passionate footballers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and this tournament could provide them a chance to show their skills to the whole nation. Unfortunately opportunities for footballers in the province have been rare & few in the past but with the initiation of Ufone football tournament the situation is expected to change for the better. The league can open fresh avenues for youth, enabling them to shine and be recognized for their talent. Ufone’s Brand Ambassadors and Baloch football stars Fazal Muhammad, Jadeed Khan Pathan and Riaz Ahmed will provide coaching and mentoring to the young footballers participating in the tournament.
Chairman PTA inaugurates the project for seamless broadband coverage to Makran Coastal Highway
Chairman PTA, Muhammad Naveed inaugurated the project “Seamless broadband coverage from Hub to Jiwani: Makran Coastal Highway” worth PKR 759 Million at a ceremony held on Tuesday in Islamabad. In this connection, contract of the project was signed by USF with Ufone. Chief Executive Officer, Universal Service Fund, Rizwan Mustafa Mir signed the contract with CEO-Ufone, Rashid Khan. In order to execute this project, 58 BTS towers will be installed in a contracted time frame of 18 months. To take this further, all major motorways and highways will be facilitated through seamless connectivity in future. Chief Guest of the ceremony, Muhammad Naveed, Chairman PTA while addressing the ceremony stated that that with constant dedication and devotion, we have achieved yet another milestone. He further said that the event marked one of the greatest landmarks achieved in the field of Telecom in Pakistan and would go a long way in taking the developmental work being done by the Ministry to a greater level. He also added that with such projects, Ministry for IT through USF would continue to work towards achieving the mission of broadband penetration across the country to facilitate the masses in rural areas. He said that in addition to Broadband Infrastructure, he expected USF to launch new e-services and m-services to facilitate digital lifestyle adoption for the people of Pakistan. Furthermore, this will be the first network in Pakistan where the winning bidder will be required to enable national subscriber roaming for other consumers to benefit from the service. Speaking at the occasion, Rashid Khan, President and CEO Ufone said, “Universal Service Fund (USF) was established to promote the development of telecommunication services in un-served and under-served areas throughout the length and breadth of the country. At Ufone we resonate the same goal of providing telecommunication services to every Pakistani. The project has a special significance, as an important highway in Balochistan will be connected through broadband services under this initiative.” It is noteworthy to mention here that under this project, seamless voice and broadband services will be provided to the coastal highway of 694 kms and for the first time in Pakistan national roaming is also being made available. Senior officials of Ministry of IT, Ufone, USF and representatives of IT and Telecom companies were also present at the event.
