Team Pakistan made its debut in Climate Launchpad, the world’s largest green business ideas competition competing against 53 countries at the final event, held in The Netherlands yesterday. Three clean-tech business ideas were presented at the forum: Geothermal Pakistan, Goats for Water and Taaza Grow.
Geo Thermal Pakistan develops solutions to the prevalent costly, inefficient and polluting air conditioners (ACs). Goats for Water is a social enterprise that aims to provide community-led solutions to rural communities’ water and energy needs by enhancing livelihood. Taaza Grow is on a mission to provide safe and hygienic food to consumers through development and use of biological fertilizers and pesticides.
Two speakers also represented Pakistan at the International Conference. Mehreen Shoaib, CEO Stimulus was part of a high-level panel discussing development of a clean-tech ecosystem in emerging economies. Hira Wajahat, Pakistan National Lead for ClimateLaunchpad facilitated a workshop on tools and techniques for implementing large scale programs such as Climate Launchpad with limited resources.
The ClimateLaunchpad Pakistan Team observed tremendous success with the first round of the competition both within Pakistan and globally. Pakistan has been recognized in the international arena for participation of women in the clean-technology space.
