Careem’s partnership with TCF enables donations through the ride-hailing app to promote primary education in Pakistan As per the Ministry of Federal Education, 22.6 million Pakistani children are still out of school. To address this major issue, Careem, the region’s leading ride hailing app, today launched its “TCF” car type in Pakistan. This initiative comes through Careem’s partnership with The Citizen Foundation and allows passengers to donate and facilitate access to quality education for underprivileged children. The Careem-TCF project was created in the giving spirit of the holy month of Ramzan, allowing Pakistani residents to donate to those who also call this region home, but are most desperately need access to quality education and schools. Selecting the TCF car option when booking through the App will add a fixed PKR 20 donation to each trip, which will be charged at the usual GO+ fare rate for Pakistan, with all funds raised going directly to TCF. “It’s an honor to support the next generation of Pakistan,” commented Junaid Iqbal, Managing Director, Careem. “As a company from the region, dedicated to simplifying the lives of our citizens, we are fully focused on supporting all communities in Pakistan– and that also includes our underprivileged youth who should be in schools and not on the streets. We felt compelled to act and we are immensely proud to be working with TCF to enable more donation opportunities that will help them build more schools, hire qualified teachers and ensure our children receive the best education possible.” Customers can simply choose TCF car type, go on about their business in Ramzan and simply donate PKR 20 which will be added to their total fare. With the recent 2% drop in literacy rate, it is hoped that Careem’s platform and generosity of its passengers will combine to provide education to those who otherwise would struggle to get it. TCF car type will only be operational for Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad citizens.
