RTX 2080 Nvidia Super appears in the Max-Q version for gaming laptop

Even though you can get a full desktop GPU on a laptop, you experience thermal problems pretty quickly. To overcome this problem and extend battery life, Nvidia has developed what is called a Max-Q GPU, which is basically a standard GPU but is neat enough to make it suitable for use on gaming laptop. So far, the RTX 2080 Max-Q is the top edge of the Max-Q graphics card, but it looks like the RTX 2080 Super Max-Q is just behind the horizon.

The information comes from Apisak hardware on Twitter who tweeted a link to the Geekbench submission for the laptop with the GPU in question.

Unfortunately, shipping itself does not provide us with much information, but knowing how Max-Q works can go a long way.

The RTX 2080 Super Max-Q is paired with a laptop that also has an unpublished Intel Core i9-10980HK processor, which at least shows that it is a laptop to be reckoned with. We don’t know where the manufacturer or product line came from, but this can be a preliminary test, which means that specifications can change.

However, the details we know are that the RTX 2080 Super Max-Q comes with 48 full units, such as: B. RTX 2080 Super desktop class, which means that it contains the full CUDA 3072 kernel. The maximum frequency of the Max-Q variant for this particular laptop is 1.23 GHz, but this can be changed. The GPU is surrounded by 8GB GDDR6 memory that communicates via a 256-bit memory interface, and even though we don’t know the memory clock, it is likely to run at a slightly lower clock speed than a desktop card, at least when RTX 2080- The Max-Q available specifications are something which will come. We will also expect 48 full RT cores.

In terms of performance, you can expect a pretty big hit compared to desktop cards, but a slight increase compared to non-Super RTX 2080 Max-Q (or 80w or 90w). However, laptop performance is very dependent on the ability of the laptop to remove heat and thus keep the GPU at its best. Source
