The decision to learn a programming language is one. However, if you’re not sure where to start, Microsoft offers a new series of 44 video series designed to teach Python beginners. Microsoft is launching a free Python beginner video course for prospective programmers.

Whether this is a good starting point has already been discussed, but as ZDNet has recently discovered, Python is currently the most popular programming language. This is from the latest IEEE Spectrum ranking earlier this month. This ranking is based on 11 weighted metrics from eight sources, with Python on top of Java, C, C ++, and R (to complete the top 5).

Most of the 44 videos are only a few minutes long – the shortest is just more than 2 minutes and the longest is around 9-12 minutes. However, most are shorter.

This series is a collaborative project between Christopher Harrison, senior programming manager at Microsoft, and Susan Ibach, business development manager in Microsoft’s AI Games division.

Although this course is beginner-oriented, it is not always intended for someone who is completely new to coding. It is assumed that viewers are programmed in other languages such as JavaScript or MakeCode “Light Experience” and are interested in Python.

“While we don’t discuss everything we need to know about Python in the course, we want to make sure we teach you the basics of Python programming, starting with regular daily code and scripts, and at the end of the course you will be able to do it yourself learning by following documents, lessons, books, etc., “Harrison said in a blog post.

The focus is not on games, although it is very possible to make games in Python. Source
