Philips is prepping a massively large 49″ monitor with curved display

If it’s an outrageously large monitor you want, get rid of some workplace space and prepare yourself to select from multiple options. We know that Samsung is focusing on a 49-in . ultra-wide monitor (C49HG90) with FreeSync 2 support, however now we’ve found that Philips gets in on the action with a cheaper option.

Corresponding to Anandtech, Philips will demand around EUR899 ($1,077) because of its own version (492P8) when it debuts sometime next yr. That is clearly a few hundred us dollars significantly less than Samsung’s monitor, which is often entirely on Amazon for $1,500.

Both monitors give you a 3840×1080 image resolution with a 32:9 aspect proportion, and both have an 1800R curvature. However, Philips’ model lacks certain amenities entirely on Samsung’s -panel, such as quantum dot technology/QLED backlighting and FreeSync 2 support.

Having said that, some features could change between now and whenever Philips emits its screen. In its current prototype form, the 492P8 offers up to 600 nits of lighting, up to 5,000:1 distinction proportion, and 178-level viewing perspectives (horizontal and vertical).

Connectivity appears pretty powerful on the 492P8. It includes two HDMI inputs to go with D-Sub and DisplayPort options. In addition, it has two USB 3.0 Type-A plug-ins and 3.5mm insight and outputs for microphones and earphones. There is a good GbE LAN interface.

Other key technical specs have never yet been exposed, including the monitor’s response time and maximum refresh rate.

Philips is likely to release the 492P8 sometime in the next 1 / 4 of next season. Reuters
